Fishing from a wheelchair

You Don't have To Give Up Fishing Because You Are In a Wheelchair

The first thing I needed to do was to renew all of my fishing tackle; which meant downgrading from carp gear to much lighter match gear; as for the previous 30+ years I had dedicated myself to carp fishing. I knew that this was not going to be cheap; but as I had stopped smoking several years ago I believed it was manageable. The reason I stopped carp fishing was because I felt that the type of fish I was catching were too big for me to handle from a wheelchair and rather than take the chance, that I might damage a fish, I felt that fishing for a smaller quarry was necessary. The welfare of the fish should always come first as far as I am concerned.
It was some time ago now that I had the misfortune to end up in a wheelchair. This proved to be somewhat of an inconvenience at the time as I was playing tennis, football and of course fishing. This unfortunately made tennis and football a no-go but I was damned if I was going to stop fishing just because I was in a wheelchair; so I looked for ways that would enable me to carry on with something that I had been participating in since I was a child.

ALLWAYS CARRY
When I had downgraded all my tackle, my thoughts on how I was going fish from a wheelchair started to concern me. My setup and swims needed to be disabled friendly; and let me assure you the latter is not an easy choice, because another persons idea of something being disabled friendly are not the same as mine; although they do try to do the best they can. They either build a disabled toilet or disabled swims, but very rarely both, which means you have a choice of either not soiling your pants or drowning. I myself would rather not drown.
Anyway, enough of my moaning and let me explain to you the purpose of this site.
The main purpose of this site is to show people how I made adaptations to my Action 3 NHS wheelchair.
The tackle I purchased, rods, reels etc and terminal tackle line, hooks plus the bait that I choose to use for the methods of fishing that I do. Everything that I say, is only my opinion and not fact as I'm sure many of you have your own methods; which I would be grateful to hear about.
